v1.2.0 — April 2026
The biggest update so far. It adds a battle helper for Pokémon Showdown, upgrades the Dex, and rebuilds the extension internally so future features are easier to add and less likely to break.
Pokémon Showdown Helper
A helper panel now appears on pokemonshowdown.com, play.pokemonshowdown.com and replay.pokemonshowdown.com. It has quick controls and a keyboard shortcut to show or hide it.
- Type matchup groups: damage multipliers are sorted into ×4, ×2, ×1, ×0.5, ×0.25 and ×0 groups, each with type icons, so you can read a matchup at a glance.
- Ability and item awareness: matchups take key abilities and items into account when they grant an immunity or reduce damage, rather than using raw type charts alone.
- Hazards and status: a short summary shows how entry hazards and status conditions interact with the active Pokémon.
Dex
- Search the Dex by Pokémon name or National Dex number.
- Refreshed Dex layout.
Other changes
- Smoother “What’s New” popup and notifications on install and update.
- Major internal rebuild: a new modular app structure, shared services for generation settings, counters and syncing, and a sidebar split into focused views. You shouldn’t notice this directly, but it improves stability and speeds up future updates.
v1.1.0 — November 2024: Visual overhaul
- Background gradients now use the Granim.js library for smoother, better-performing animation.
- Added a smooth transition from the loading state to the loaded new tab.
- Optimised the local database and encounter counters. This fixes the “Exceeded quota bytes” error some users saw.
- Faster syncing between local storage (IndexedDB) and Chrome storage.
- Added the build-notes popup that appears after an update or a fresh install.

Planned at the time: options for gradient direction and speed, and the Pokémon Showdown helper, which shipped in v1.2.0.
v1.0.4 / v1.0.5 — October 2024
- Fixed an issue with the Chrome Web Store release.
v1.0.3 — September 2024

v1.0.2 — September 2024
- Fixed a bug where the weather module (OpenWeatherMap) didn’t recognise your API key.
v1.0.1 — September 2024
- PokeTab launched on the Chrome Web Store.
